Published: 05 August 2021

Are you a keen mountain biker? Do you love leopards and nature? Are you looking for the deal of the year? Well, we may just be able to help you out with a greatly discounted W2W entry! Read on for more details!!

We’d also like to invite you to read our winter newsletter where we recap on key Cape Leopard Trust news and happenings since Feb 2021. We look back on our Boland camera survey and introduce a new collaborative project in the Overberg. We share more about our online database, citizen science competition, outreach and training work, and new environmental education initiatives. Click here to read our full newsletter.

Back to mountain biking: the Cape Leopard Trust is proud and privileged to be associated with the FNB Wine2Whales mountain bike event as an official beneficiary, and as such, we have the opportunity to offer two entries into the Pinotage race to two teams who would like to ride for a worthy cause. The 2 standard tent team entries are up for grabs at the unbelievable discounted price of only R10 000 per team (normal price R15 500). These special leopard entries also include a fantastic exclusive added extra in the form of a morning mountain bike ride followed by a private wine tasting with the legendary US mountain biker turned winemaker, Trevor deRuisé.

Trevor was one of America’s top professional cross-country mountain bike racers before he made 180-degree career change and became a winemaker in the Overberg. Today he makes fantastic small-batch wines called LOST BOY Wines for the Wild. Trevor has a passion for nature and conservation and R50 of every bottle of his wines goes to one of his chosen wildlife causes (including the CLT). He still regularly rides his mountain bike on the stunning Overberg trails and hosts intimate private tastings of his wines in nature. Trevor has kindly agreed to host our two CLT W2W teams for a morning ride and tasting!

Interested?
Please contact Jeannie on [email protected] BEFORE 15 AUGUST.

We also encourage our two teams to use this as an opportunity to help us protect leopards in the Cape by fundraising for the CLT through GivenGain or any other platform.

About the Pinotage
The FNB Wines2Whales consists of 3 different races – the Chardonnay, Pinotage and Shiraz. The Pinotage is held from 8-10 Nov and is the event that sees the highest number of first-timers and is perfect for international tourists as well as riders from different provinces as it offers participants the chance to enjoy a mid-week race with an enjoyable weekend on either side. It is touted as the race with the most GEES as the men’s and women’s elite races are battled out in the Chardonnay and Shiraz.
