Spot Spotted

Published: 09 April 2008

F10 or "Spot"- the adult female leopard adopted by the Motamedia group in the UK finally has her leopard identikit. One week ago, Quinton & Liz were out tracking the male M10, when we found fresh tracks of this very elusive female who was adopted last year.

They tracked her right up to one of our camera-trap stations. Luckily for us, she had walked through it! The film was taken back to Cape Town, along with films from other cameras in the area, and we obtained these stunning photo's of her.

The Cape Leopard Trust has been offered the opportunity by the Motamedia Group to set up a "Spot Adoption" program. We are currently looking for someone to link each and every spot on her body to an individual adoption form (any offers? Its quite a job with over 500 spots).Spot adoptions will range from R300/year - R1500/year. Spot is going to be one the most valuable leopards in South Africa - contributing considerable annual funding towards the conservation of this threatened leopard population.
