Fundraiser at Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards

Fundraiser at Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards

The Cape Leopard Trust Annual Fundraiser was held at the prestigious Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards in Franschhoek. It was an evening of delectable food and wine with the purpose to raise funds that will aid in continuing the work done by the project. A big thank you to everyone who attended this splendid occasion.

We would especially like to thank Leopard's Leap Wine for hosting the 2012 Charity Fundraising Auction and helping us raise funds toward the research and conservation of the Cape leopard in the Western Cape. Furthermore, we wish to thank the sponsors of all the auction items and those that bid on them enabling us to raise the funds on the night.

The incredible auction items that were on offer just showed, once again, how enthusiastic sponsors are about this worthy cause and the great appreciation there is for the important role played by the Cape Leopard Trust. Wilderness Safaris donated a magnificent 9-day luxury safari package to Botswana/Zambia and Londolozi Game Reserve offering a 3-night holiday package, a destination well known for amazing leopard sightings. Both these sponsors have been long time supporters of the project and we want to extend a special thanks for their ongoing contributions.

From the bidders' side there was just no holding back. Further auction items included an 18-litre bottle of 2011 Leopard's Leap Merlot, a Boland Leopard Tracking Day Trip including breakfast at Tokara’s Delicatessen, dinner at Pierneef à La Motte Restaurant as well as one night’s accommodation at the exclusive La Motte Manor House, stunning snow leopard photographs taken by world-renowned Steve Winter, Tokara Director’s Reserve wine as well as one Boland leopard adoption.

We are pleased to announce that we managed to raise R242 000 on the night. In addition, we would like to thank Woolworths for donating of R61 000 on the night resulting in over R300,000 for the event. All funds will be used to further the important work we do in preserving the endangered Cape Mountain leopard and their environment.

Trust chairman Mr Johan van der Westhuizen and CEO Dr Quinton Martins would like to thank all sponsors, donors and dedicated individuals for their generosity in support of research, conservation and education.
