Over the past two years, the CLT have received considerable support from the Douglas Lederle Memorial Fund – a trust fund established in memory of Douglas Lederle (1971 – 2008). Douglas had been involved with the CLT since its inception and had a great passion for conservation, and this passion now lives on through this memorial fund.

Apart from sponsoring camera traps in the Cederberg and adopting a male leopard called Kishwan in the Gouritz corridor, the DLMF has recently also sponsored a camera trap for the CLT Boland project. This camera was set up on the farm High Noon in Kaaimansgat near Villiersdorp. We were really excited to find that this camera has captured photographs of a beautiful big adult male leopard (M3) during its first stint in the field!

We’ve also had reports of a female leopard with cubs in the same area, so we’re holding thumbs that she will walk past the camera trap sometime soon! Also captured by the camera is our first striped polecat record for the Boland project – very exciting!
