The Cape Leopard Trust is seeking a suitably qualified ‘Environmental Educator’ to implement local activities (eco clubs, presentations and day trips) and to implement environmental camps in the Boland and Cederberg. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about nature and enjoys teaching and facilitating activities with children and young people. The candidate must hold a valid driving license, be physically fit, have outdoor experience and a good general knowledge of the mountains around Cape Town, including fauna and flora and hiking routes.
Reporting to the Project Coordinator the key performance areas are
- Good leadership skills
- Facilitating hikes and outdoor activities
- Group management and mentoring
- Implementing camps including driving and facilitating activities
- Conducting presentations, outings and activities in visits to schools
- Creating environmental education activities and learning programmes
- Maintaining relationships with environmental education partners
- Programme administration and curriculum development
Qualification and experience requirements
- Matric or equivalent qualification
- First Aid Qualification Level 1 to 3 an advantage
- Tertiary Studies or Conservation knowledge an advantage
- Teaching or guiding experience is an advantage
- Computer literacy and communication skills
- A PrDP and code 10/C1 driving license or willingness to obtain one
- Fluency in English and Afrikaans or isiXhosa desirable
- The ability to work independently under pressure and as part of a team
Location: Cape Town and Cederberg Mountains
Remuneration: R192 000 per annum
