The DCM Cape Pioneer Trek sponsorship

Published: 16 August 2010

Image The DCM Cape Pioneer Trek presented by KHS have just pledged their support for the Cape Leopard Trust which will bring a valuable contribution to the Trust, and at the same time expose riders to the trails on which these magnificent animals tread. The Cape Leopard Trust will receive an annual cash sponsorship from the DCM Cape Pioneer Trek to fund research of the elusive Cape mountain leopard in the Gouritz Corridor.

The DCM Cape Pioneer Trek sounds phenomenal, getting cyclists out into the exquisite wilderness areas of the Klein Karoo on a six day challenge. Riders will pass right through the territory of leopards being studied in the Cape Leopard Trust’s Gouritz project. Riders can enjoy their trek that much more knowing that the areas they are traversing are truly wild.

For those of you riders out there who haven’t yet signed up for the experience, you can find out more on - and remember to keep your eyes open for any signs of leopards.

Quinton has started riding again, after many years, so he might just be signing up for the ride next year!

The Cape Leopard Trust would like to express our sincere gratitude to the DCM Cape Pioneer Trek, presented by KHS, and share our excitement in this remarkable adventure. The sponsorship will go directly into our Gouritz research project. We also see this as an opportunity for all the participants in the ride to learn more about the unique Cape leopards that still live in the mountains in the area.
