The Cape Leopard Trust - Using research as a tool for conservation & finding solutions to human-wildlife conflict

Catherine Kühn

Environmental Educator - Catherine joined the Cape Leopard Trust team in October 2014 as the new Cape Town based Environmental Educator. Catherine’s love for nature was nurtured from a very young age. Her parents are avid hikers and for every holiday the family of 4 kids would be packed into the car and head off into the wilderness, mainly to the Cederberg, to go camping, hiking, climbing and exploring.

This passion for nature ultimately shaped her career choice. Catherine has a Diploma in Nature Conservation through the Cape Peninsula University of Technology and is currently completing her Bachelor’s in Nature Conservation. Catherine is a keen mountaineer, hiker, rock climber and trail runner. She holds guiding qualifications in mountain walking and rock climbing and is also a volunteer for Mountain Rescue. She loves any opportunity to be out in nature, and if would even live in a cave if she could.

Catherine particularly enjoys sharing her love for nature with others and at one point considered making teaching her vocation, so this is a perfect combination of her two passions.

Catherine works closely with Hadley in the Cederberg, but will concentrate her efforts primarily in and around Cape Town to develop the city based EE programme.
